Mother Farm

マザー牧場 (mazaa bokujo)

Going to a farm may not sound like a fun way to spend your weekend, but you’d be surprised by how beautiful the scenery is and how many activities there are. Even on a cloudy day, the view of the green grass and hills contrasted against the pale sky is breathtaking.

Patagonian Mara

Spread out along the high hills are various areas to see and/or interact with different animals including sheep, goats, rabbits, capybara, and even the Patagonian Mara, which I didn’t even know existed. It looks like a mix between a deer and a kangaroo but it’s actually part of the rodent family.

In addition to playing with the animals, you can watch them in shows as well. The “sheepdogs and their farm friends” (牧羊犬とまきばの仲間たち) show in the Agrodome (pictured below) is a beautiful display of the relationship between farm animals, the sheepdog, and the farmer, and is both educational and entertaining.

If you’re looking for a thrill, try the bungee jump or zipline experience offered on the farm. Families can take their children to the small amusement park with roller coasters and other carnival games.

Other experiences include horseback riding, cow milking, cooking classes, craft making, and fruit picking.

Stop by the gift shop near the entrance on your way out to get your dairy fix of rare cheesecake, pudding, ice cream, cheese, and more.
