RIN – **Permanently Closed as of June 2019**
RIN is a old-style cafe hidden away in the countryside. While it’s menu selection is simple, it offers a quiet and relaxing atmosphere surrounded by nature and antiques.
In addition to the tables and chairs near the entrance (not pictured), they also have a spacious area to relax while you eat and enjoy the classic ambiance of vinyl.
They have a plethora of old electronics like cassette players, record players, hand crank phonographs, and more that you can test out and play music on. Some of their record collection includes Japanese hits and foreign bands like Queen.
For some it makes for the perfect napping spot after lunch – and some people do take naps there! The owner is very nice and doesn’t mind.
The menu is limited but good. The main sets are seafood curry, pilaf, and risotto, and include salad and either tea or coffee. Desserts include cheesecake, roll cake, and a specialty dessert that changes depending on the day. They also have basic cafe drinks including coffee, tea, and juice.
While I like their menu, I think this is one of the places you go for the atmosphere and the company. It’d be a great place to study or hang out for a few hours without the crowds.
HOURS: 11 am – 5 pm, closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays
LOCATION: 400 Ebishiki, Minamiboso, Chiba 294-0804
Where you see the cafe’s wooden sign, drive up the narrow path hidden by bushes. There are about 4~5 parking spots at the top in front of the cafe.
